14.2. Synchronizer Service, Managing the Database

! WARNING! This utility performs functions directly to the underlying database. Caution should be observed when issuing database functions.

This utility should only be executed by the Network Administrator

Every once in a while the Innova database requires housecleaning. It is customarily the responsibility of the Network or Database Administrator to maintain the integrity of the database super-system. Innova aids in this task by offering the following five functions:

  • Database Compaction - removes temporary or blank records, compacts the overall space consumed, and resets record numbering to 1 in empty Services.
  • Database Repair - reintegrates database validation rules and reconstitutes records. This is useful after a power failure.
  • Database Backup - creates a backup of the current database
  • Database Backup Restoration - restores the data and tables from a backed-up database
  • Database Importation - imports and merges records from another database or backup (not offered in Lite Edition)

! NOTE! Innova Lite Edition is intended to be used on one system only, and therefore cannot access network-located data.
