8.2. Gift Certificate Service, Historical Certificates and OrphaningDEFINITION: Orphaning - A certificate which is not derived from a record purchase. These certificates exist independent of any actual purchase. They are most commonly created to introduce certificates that were produced prior to implemening Innova.It is very critical to understand that Orphaning a certificate affects your accounting! If you need to enter certificates that were created before Innova was introduced, the only method is to create Orphaned certificates. During subsequent Synchronizations, these Orphaned certificates may be matched with purchased certificates. The concept can be described as:
