8. Gift Certificate Service

Innova gives the user a fabulous arsenal of tools to manage gift certificates. Not only are outstanding certificates recognized, but you can create certificates from historical data -- even when the purchase hasn't been entered!

Four types of gift certificates are handled by Innova:

  • Outstanding - Certificates that are purchased but not yet redeemed.
  • Orphaned - Certificates that are redeemed but not purchased. This may occur when historical data is entered. See Historical Certificates and Orphaning.
  • Purchased/Redeemed - Certificates that are completed (purchased and redeemed).
  • Expired - Certificates that are no longer accepted.

Viewing the purchasing or redeeming order

To view the order where the certificate was bought or redeemed, click the appropriate [View Order] button.

Forcing the expiration

  • Click [Force Expiration] to quickly set the expiration date to the previous date. ! WARNING: Expiring a certificate is not reversable!

    Changing the recipient, occasion or relation

    • Enter new information in these fields as necessary.

    ! You cannot change the dollar amount or service of the certificate since that would adversely affect the order purchased. Instead, refund the order and issue a new gift certificate.
